Mairi Buchan scored 13 points and Mary Durojaye added 12 points as Great Britain clinched their first Division B title by beating Slovakia 47-46 at the U20 European Championship for Women.
Great Britain, who have only played Division B at the women's and men's U20 level since 2006, allowed just 14 points in the first half and held on to grab the crown. Both Great Britain and Slovakia, who were led by Klaudia Lukacovicova's 16 points and 14 points from Veronika Cernakova, will play next summer in Division A.
Slovakia surprised Czech Republic to advance to the final of the U20 European Championship for Women Division B while also booking promotion to Division A next summer along with Great Britain, who beat Portugal.
Veronika Cernakova had 19 points while Maria Felixova (18 points and 13 rebounds) and Klaudia Lukacovicova (10 and 12) both registered double-doubles in leading Slovakia to a 53-50 victory over the Czech Republic, keeping the women's basketball powerhouse in Division B next summer despite 16 points and 14 rebounds from Alena Hanusova.
Alena Hanusova had 16 points and nine rebounds to lead Czech Republic to a convincing 71-37 victory over Greece in the quarter-finals of the U20 European Championship for Women Division B to set up a semi-final showdown with neighbors Slovakia - 49-46 winners over Hungary.
The other semi-final - with the winner gaining promotion next summer to Division A - will see Great Britain taking on Portugal. Great Britain beat Israel 72-65 and Portugal eased past Belgium 59-40.
